Reigning 2016 AL Rookie of the year Michael Fulmer of the Detroit Tigers will miss his next exhibition start due to a sprained ankle. The sprain has been ruled a Grade 1 which is the least severe and so there is little threat to Fulmer being ready to go Opening Day. The bigger issue is the regression that is coming this season for Fulmer as his 3.06 ERA last season will be tough to sustain when looking at the advanced metrics. For one thing, Fulmer's .268 BABIP was very lucky and his adjusted FIP (3.76) and XFIP (3.95) ERA's tell a different story. Also consider that Fulmer is not a strikeout guy as his 7.47 K/9 rate was ordinary last season. Combined together and this guy won't be chasing me in drafts.
