2017 FANTASY BASEBALL BRIEF: DAVID PRICE TO BEGIN THE SEASON ON THE DL, RED SOX SPEAKING OPTIMISTICALLY ON ELBOW

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell was quite expansive on the current status of injured lefty starter David Price on Friday, admitting that he will almost surely begin the 2017 season on the disabled list due to the bout of elbow soreness that took him out of his spring progress and led to Tommy John surgery scares.  Farrell did say however that Price had full range of motion in the elbow and that he still has not had any injections into the joint.  Of course Farrell also admitted that Price was not able to get any throwing in on Friday as originally planned and so again we have to consider how serious this situation is.  Price was very disappointing in his first season with the Red Sox in 2016 when his home run rate skyrocketed and fastball lost two miles per hour of velocity.  His draft price has come way down as a result of the injury so there could be a prime buying opportunity but we are still in murky territory here.
