2017 FANTASY SPORTS BOSS PLAYERS I WILL AVOID: SHORTSTOP

Trevor Story:  The power is no doubt well worth a high round draft pick but I think Story is going to go a bit too high given the Coors Field effect.  Also Story strikes out a whole lot and his .343 BABIP last season is not sustainable.  This means his .272 average last season will dip sharply.

Troy Tulowitzki:  Been telling you to avoid Tulo for years and that was when he was in his blockbuster years with the Colorado Rockies.  Now his speed is gone, his average is slipping badly, and the injuries are still a major issue.

Addison Russell:  Listen Russell has every right to improve at the age of 23 but I don't like the fact he doesn't steal bases and his average remains very ugly.  Yes 25 home runs is very likely going forward but with not much in the way of flash.

Dansby Swanson:  The hype is causing Swanson to be drafted higher then he should go considering he is completely unproven at the Major League level.  Also Swanson did not exactly light things on fire in the minors and his overall offensive game may not live up to the hype.

Asdrubal Cabrera:  Impressive 23 home runs from Cabrera last season but he is taped up like a mummy physically and is 31 with no more speed.

Elvis Andrus:  Yes the push up toward a .302 average last season was nice but it came with an unsustainable .333 BABIP.  With steals numbers that are no longer approaching 40 but instead are staying in the mid-20's, Andrus remains grossly overrated.

Didi Gregorious:  Continues to improve but Gregorious has no plate discipline and he won't hit /276 again if he still struggles against righties.  Also not much in the way of steals.

Alicides Escobar, J.J. Hardy:  I group both of these veterans in the same class here as I used them in the past but not longer given the advancing age and very shaky offensive numbers.
