2017 FANTASY BASEBALL PROSPECT WATCH: ANDREW BENINTENDI OUTFIELDER BOSTON RED SOX

The Boston Red Sox do outfielder prospects like the Tampa Bay Rays do farmhand pitching.  Having already developed Mookie Betts into a five-category monster who can legitimately challenge Mike Trout as the top player in fantasy baseball, the Red Sox have also seen Jackie Bradley Jr. turn himself into a firm outfielder 2/3 guy beginning last season.  Well the conveyor belt is not done churning as they will likely add super outfield prospect Andrew Benintendi to the list in 2017 as the burgeoning star is ready to be an everyday starter for the team right out of the April gate.  The rise of Benintendi has been rapid to say the least as the team's 2015 draft pick (7th overall) has wasted no time dominating at the minor league level which got him the call to the majors last season.  While a leg injury kept a cap on what Benintendi could show in his debut, he opened more than enough eyes when he hit .295 with 2 home runs and a steal in just 105 at-bats.  This came on the heels of Benintendi's spectacular 2015 debut as a pro when he hit .313 with 11 home runs and 10 steals in just 54 games.  What really stood out in terms of Benintendi's advanced beyond his years approach was the fact he put up a crazy good 35/24 BB/K ratio that year which showed how the 22-year-old's batting eye is beyond impressive.  Having been a 20/20 guy while in college at Arkansas, Benintendi's has an outside chance of reaching that ratio in 2017 with the Sox.  While it is easy to let the hype machine get out of hand here, Benintendi is the very rare prospect we have no issues with chasing.  While some will go Alex Bregman, put this peanut stand in the corner of Benintendi being the number 1 fantasy baseball prospect for the upcoming season.

2017 PROJECTION:  .290 14 HR 73 RBI 79 R 16 SB
