2017 FANTASY BASEBALL PLAYERS I WILL AVOID: OUTFIELDERS

Let;s get to the players I will avoid in 2017 fantasy baseball drafts when it comes to the outfield position.  These are the outfielders who I will do my best to avoid this spring.

George Springer:  It is not that I don't like Springer but in fantasy baseball he is overrated.  The average shows no signs of ever becoming decent and 9 steals in 644 at-bars last season could mean Springer's running is over already.

Giancarlo Stanton:  The power is massive but Stanton still has not been able to put a fully healthy season together.  A first round pick last season, Stanton wound up with only 27 home runs and an ugly .240 average.  With no a single steal to his name, Stanton is now an all-or-nothing guy who still has a high draft value.

Justin Upton:  Sorry but I can't stand the insane and wild swings in production from month-to-month or even week-to-week with Upton.  Yes he is always around his usual 25 home runs by the end of the season but it is a roller coaster getting there.  In addition, Upton swiped just 9 bags last season and his average has become a major problem in finishing at .251 and .246 the last two years.

Jose Bautista:  It is nice that Bautista is back in Toronto but like most guys on this list, the average is nasty and Bautista is clearly on the back nine of his career with increasing health woes.

Dexter Fowler:  Leaving a decent hitting park in Chicago with the Cubs for a pitching-leaning one in St. Louis./  Plus Fowler managed just 13 home runs last season and his steals dropped from 20 two years ago to just 9 in 2016.

Billy Hamilton:  Annually one of the most overpriced players in fantasy baseball, you can get Manuel Margot or Jarrod Dyson 8 rounds later and get similar numbers.

Jackie Bradley:  Had a big first half that netted Bradley an All-Star nod but then was exposed in the second half when he batted just .233.  With little speed (9 steals), Bradley need to keep his average up (just ,267 last season) to be useful.  Red Sox tag makes him pricey.

Adam Duvall:  Want no part of this guy who I think is a one-year wonder.  Yes the power is tremendous but Duvall hit just .241 last season and will likely go lower in 2017 since pitchers have a firmer book on him.

Randal Grichuk:  An ugly .240 average sank Grichuk last season overall despite 24 home runs in just 446 at-bats.  Way to limited for me to use.  Guys like this are a dime a dozen in fantasy baseball.

Joc Pederson:  The .246 Pederson batted last season was actually a vast improvement there from 2015.  That says all you need to know about his impact.

Jacoby Ellsbury:  I think I have wasted enough time talking about what a disgrace this guy has become.

Yasiel Puig:  Stop chasing the potential that Puig's immaturity will not allow to show itself.

Jay Bruce:  Yes you can get 25 home runs but with a .245 average.  The speed is also gone for good.

Brett Gardner:  When he was swiping 40 bases, we had interest,  Not anymore when Gardner is getting just the 16 he got last season.

Alex Gordon, Shin-Soo Choo, Jayson Werth:  Also aging and one fumes,

Aaron Judge:  Struck out in almost half his at-bats last season,   No thank you.
