2017 FANTASY BASEBALL PLAYERS I WILL AVOID: THIRD BASEMAN

We are almost through all the positions as I continue to share with you all the players I will target and avoid at drafts this season.  Let's get to the third baseman who will not likely inhabit my teams.

Anthony Rendon:  Decent player no doubt who had a solid comeback in 2016 off his epic bust campaign the year prior but Rendon is too high-maintenance for my taste.

Jake Lamb:  The 29 home runs were a big surprise last season but Lamb has a MAJOR strikeout problem and his .249 average last season could go even lower.

Miguel Sano:  Big power for sure but Sano is another guy who will kill your team batting average which takes the shine off the home run contributions.

Eugenio Suarez:  21 homers and 11 steals are nice from any position but Suarez has contact issues that keeps him as just a backup guy.

Ryon Healy:  Already talked about the bust chances of Healy this season and I stand by that assessment.  The price won't be high here but Healy could just as quickly go back into oblivion this season.

Mike Moustakas:  Stop chasing the potential here as Moustakas doesn't have the power that many original projected him to possess and the average is an annual problem.

Yangervis Solarte:  Not enough power for a corner infield spot.

Hernan Perez:  This guy is likely going to be sizably overpriced this season coming off an out-of-nowhere .272/13-HR/34-SB season in 2016.  Perez was not a big prospect in the Brewers system and his average could go even lower in 2017.

Martin Prado:  Good hitter but mostly an empty batting average.

David Wright:  It's been fun.

  1. You often talk about big power bats with low average not being on your radar. I'm in an OPS league. Do you have different feelings about a guy like Sano in this case?
