2017 FANTASY BASEBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: C.J. CRON 1B LOS ANGELES ANGELS

Yes this guy again.  If I sound like a broken record touting Cron for yet ANOTHER season then I am sorry but I just can't help myself.  Like an old girlfriend I just can't get out of my mind, the Los Angeles Angels 1B/DH remains a source of obsession for yours truly and that was only heightened after Cron began to start putting things all together for the team last season.  As a quick refresher, I was drawn to Cron back in 2015 due to the fact his smooth bat and burgeoning power reminded me of a young Kansas City Royals version of Billy Butler and while there have been stops and starts since, 2016 seemed to hint that the statistical planets are beginning to align.  It was last season where Cron made firm inroads both in his K/9 rate compared to 2015 (16.9 compared to 2015's 20.3) and upped the walk rate a bit as well (5.5 compared to 4.2 in 2015).  While Cron needs to add even more walks, his average came out to a career-best .278 which was completely legit based on his neutral .302 BABIP.  Also as far as the power was concerned, Cron's 16 home runs in 407 at-bats was a pace for around 23 if he had stayed healthy.  Having turned the magical prime age of 27 this past January, Cron is ready to take aim at 25 home runs, 85-plus RBI, and a .280 batting average for the price of a very late round pick.  The fact Cron has been on the scene for a few seasons without blowing up any one category means that he is becoming "just another name" to many in the fantasy baseball community but the post-hype sleeper tag firmly applies here.  This group of player is where some of the very best values can be had and Cron fits this tier like a glove.  Believe in the progress and give Cron another look this spring.

2017 PROJECTION:  .282 24 HR 83 RBI 63 R 1 SB
