As someone who was a decent-sized booster of Tampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos, the news Monday that he is likely out until July and won't be able to catch until August was a significant blow to the veteran's 2017 fantasy baseball outlook. Some original estimates after Ramos underwent surgery to repair the ACL he tore at the end of last season was that he would possibly be able to come back by the end of May but now that doesn't look like it is in any way realistic. So my thinking of taking advantage of the steep discount you would get at the draft table with Ramos and riding with another backstop for two months until his return is now off the table. While Ramos has certainly showed he can hit and hit for power, he should be severely pushed down your catcher cheat sheets based on this information. In fact it is enough for me to remove Ramos entirely from my list.
