It appears that closer David Robertson will be the next player the fully rebuilding Chicago White Sox will send on his way and the Washington Nationals reportedly are the favorites to be his landing spot. Multiple outlets are reporting Monday that the Nats and White Sox are past the preliminary phase in terms of making a deal for Robertson and that is somewhat surprising since the latter already fleeced the former in the Adam Eaton deal. Be that as it may, the hard-throwing Robertson would fill a big need for the Nationals who currently have the untested over a long duration Shawn Kelly as closer and so this makes total sense. Now as far as Robertson is concerned, he still strikes out a ton of batters but his ERA the last two years has come in at an elevated 3.41 and 3.47 for a closer. Robertson continues to get himself in trouble with walks and the home run ball which any closing opportunity dicey. Thus in terms of fantasy baseball, Robertson can't be graded as anything more than a mid-tier closer but Nate Jones would himself move into a much more prominent role in replacing his counterpart if a deal is made. Jones was dominant last season and has the high strikeout stuff to be a big sleeper this season. Stay tuned on this.
