2017 FANTASY BASEBALL ISSUES: CHASE UTLEY AND FRANKLIN GUTIERREZ ONLY DEPTH PLAYERS ON DODGERS

The Los Angeles Dodgers put the finishing touches in terms of the roster they will bring to 2017 spring training Friday by re-signing second baseman Chase Utley and also inking outfielder Franklin Gutierrez to one-year deals.  Both aging veterans will serve as depth players for the Dodgers and thus carry little to no fantasy baseball value given their uncertain playing time.  While Utley did a nice job in hitting 14 home runs for the Dodgers last season in 512 at-bats, his age can be seen in his ugly .252 average and just 2 stolen bases.  Meanwhile Gutierrez was a nice comeback story for the Seattle Mariners in 2015 but he likely will only play when a lefthander is on the mound.  Ignore both at the draft table.
