2017 FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: ZACH WHEELER ALREADY DEALING WITH ELBOW SORENESS

Not even two days into New York Mets spring training and former top starting pitcher and currently rehabbing Zach Wheeler admitted that he felt "tenderness" in his elbow while throwing a bullpen session last week.  Wheeler did his best to downplay the issue and said he will throw another bullpen on Friday but in no way, shape, or form is this a minor deal.  The fact of the matter now is that Wheeler has not pitched in a major league game since 2014 when he established himself as one of the best power pitching prospects in the game due to being forced to undergo Tommy John elbow surgery in 2015 spring training.  While the success rate in coming back from Tommy John continues to go up, Wheeler has been a recent case where recovery has not been good as he has had nothing but setbacks along the way.  2016 turned out to be a complete washout as Wheeler had nothing short of four different setbacks with the elbow and thus he entered spring training this year having missed two full MLB campaigns.  Now we get word Wheeler is already dealing with elbow soreness which then leads one to think that his delivery needs an overhaul.  The fact Wheelers continues to come down with soreness in the elbow after BP sessions means that the delivery is putting too much stress on the joint and as we have seen in similar cases such as Stephen Strasburg and Danny Salazar, constant injury results.  Right now Wheeler is almost not worth drafting as he could very well just take up roster space again and it has been so long since he has pitched that one has no clue as to what his stuff will look like.  On and on it goes.
