For the first time in this site's over 10 years of doing business, a player earned the designation of being BOTH a fantasy baseball sleeper and a fantasy baseball bust for the same season.  Such an honor was bestowed on hard-throwing Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers who has some of the most overpowering stuff in baseball but who at the same time is a tremendous injury risk going forward.  Things could literally go either way here with McCullers which is why he is an extreme boom or bust draft candidate.  Now in terms of his current state, McCullers has already thrown four bullpen sessions so far this spring which is a very encouraging development considering how many injury scares he had a year ago.  In what turned out to be a bust of a season in 2016, McCullers came down both with shoulder and elbow trouble which was blamed mostly on a rough delivery.  Anyone who has owned Stephen Strasburg knows all about how injuries are almost guaranteed for those pitchers who have a rough delivery and so Houston team brass went right to work overhauling McCullers' delivery over the winter.  McCullers is using the new release point this spring and the hope is he will be much more healthy with a refined approach  Now in terms of ability, McCullers draws a ton of warranted attention given his insane strikeout stuff (11.78 K/9 last season) but his control need a bunch of work (5.00 BB/9) and of course the Tommy John threat is real here.  If you can snag McCullers as your fourth starter then you did great.  Even having him as your third starter we would sign off on but the risk goes up exponentially under that situation.  Enjoy the health now and hope for the best.
