FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: MAX SCHERZER RULES HIMSELF OUT OF WBC WITH FRACTURED KNUCKLE IN PITCHING HAND

Spring training is not even underway but the WBC is in the news as Washington Nationals ace SP Max Scherzer has pulled himself out of the event after revealing he suffered a fractured knuckle in his pitching hand. While Scherzer was not specific as to when or how the injury was suffered, he is expected to be 100 percent ready to go when spring training begins next month.  Those who already own Scherzer in keepers (as yours truly does in the Experts League) have to be happy about this news as the WBC is one giant injury worry.  Scherzer it can be argued is the number 1 pitcher in fantasy baseball behind only Clayton Kershaw but he has durability the Dodgers ace doesn't have which counts for a little extra at the draft table.  How about these strikeout totals the last five years?  Try 231, 240, 252, 276, and 284. The ERA?  Try under 3.00 in 3 of the last four years.  Also throw in some no-hitters as well plus yearly innings totals that show uncanny durability which again Kershaw doesn't have.  Make sure Scherzer goes in Round 2 in your mixed league draft this season and know he is almost guaranteed another ace fantasy baseball campaign.
