2017 FANTASY BASEBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: CARLOS GONZALEZ OUTFIELDER COLORADO ROCKIES

Along the same lines as Matt Kemp, Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has successfully changed the dynamics of his game in terms of contributing numbers for fantasy baseball.  Knowing full well his speed had vanished, the former 20/20 first round dynamo began to go all-out in swinging for the fences.  The result was a monster 2015 campaign where Gonzalez went yard 40 times in transforming himself overnight into one of the best power hitters in the game.  We told you leading into last season however that Gonzalez’ 40 home runs reeked of being an outlier and that was proven true  as his number there settled back into the mid-20’s at 25.  Despite the unsurprising drop, Gonzalez collected 100 RBI and scored 87 runs while batting a respectable .271.  That placed him in firm outfielder 2 range and that is where Gonzalez will reside for the time being.  As we said earlier, the speed is gone here and so there will be no more steals to be had.  That has actually helped Gonzalez stay healthy the last couple of seasons after he went through a number of years with leg and hand injuries attempting to steal.  Also with Gonzalez swinging for the fences like never before, his batting average will no longer approach the .300 mark as well.  Yes the flash has dimmed some but Gonzalez still offers enough to help you.
2017 PROJECTION:  .273 27 HR 99 RBI 90 R 2 SB
