FANTASY BASEBALL TRADE FALLOUT PART 2: YOAN MONCADA STEEP PRICE TO PAY FOR CHRIS SALE

The Boston Red Sox are clearly going for it in 2017 as they showed by their gargantuan trade for Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale on Tuesday.  The price was steep though in terms of the future as the Red Sox had to surrender top third base prospect Yoan Moncada, along with three other prospects of note.  Moncada of course is the big "get" for the White Sox as he is universally considered a top tier prospect who has immense natural power and incredible speed which points to him being a future five-tool stud.  Already at the age of 21, Moncada hit .294 with 14 home runs and 45 stolen bases in just 106 games in the minors last season and we are talking about sky is the limit potential here.  The White Sox will no doubt give Moncada every chance to make the team out of spring training and his status as a 2017 fantasy baseball sleeper is immense.

As far as the rest of the package is concerned, the White Sox also got outfield prospect Luis Basabe who hit .264 with 12 home runs and 25 steals in A-Ball at the age of 20.  He too has a power/speed game that contains quite a bit of ceiling as well.  Victor Diaz was the third player and the right pitcher posted a 3.00 ERA and 98 K;s in 93 innings in A-Ball last season.  He pitched in relief and has the look of a guy who can be a power arm out of the bullpen before too long.  Finally, the White Sox picked up Michael Kopech to round out the deal.  Kopech is a pure fireballer who can hit 100 with his fastball but his control is a major work in progress.  He did strike out a ridiculous 86 batters in just 56.1 innings once he came back from a broken hand suffered in a fight with a teammate last season but again we are talking about another future power arm.  All in all you would have to say the White Sox did as well as a team could in trading their best starter.
