Multiple outlets are reporting that the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates are moving quickly on a trade centering on outfielder Andrew McCutchen, with one source stating they are "locked in" on the talks. The Nats have reportedly agreed to move top outfield prospect Victor Robles but the sticking point is the second piece which the Pirates want to be either Lucas Giolito or Reynaldo Lopez.
Analysis: It sounds like we could have a deal done by the end of the day at this rate. The Pirates are selling high here on a guy who looked to be in the start of a decline phase in 2016. With Austin Meadows ready to join Starling Marte and Gregory Polanco, the move is a no-brainer for the Pirates. Meanwhile the Nats would add another prime bat to their lineup to counter the New York Mets re-signing outfielder Yoenis Cespedes.
