FANTASY BASEBALL HOT STOVE BREAKING NEWS: ANDREW McCUTCHEN TO NATIONALS "NEARLY DONE"

By Michael Wong

According to a team source connected to the Pittsburgh Pirates front office, the much-discussed trade of outfielder Andrew McCutchen to the Washington Nationals is "nearly done" and that an announcement could come before the end of the weekend.  The two sides reportedly have agreed on the main components in the deal but are now just haggling over the smaller pieces involved.  McCutchen will take over centerfield for the Nats which would then move Trea Turner to shortstop and Danny Espinoza off the team as a non-tender.

Analysis (The Fantasy Sports Boss):  Wow.  The Nats are going for it and leaving no stone unturned this time around.  There are a lot of ramifications here as McCutchen has a new fresh start to reignite his stock after putting up a horrid 2016 that no doubt got the Pirates comfortable with moving him.  Also Turner becomes a slam dunk top 3 fantasy baseball shortstop now that he will be moving there full-time with McCutchen in the outfield.  Finally, Austin Meadows needs to be moved up cheat sheets as the top Pirates outfield prospect has uber-talent that contains a power/speed element.
