National Harbor, Md.--The New York Yankees have come to terms on a free agent contract with outfielder Matt Holliday. Holliday comes off a 2016 season when he hit .244 with 20 home runs for the St. Louis Cardinals who non-tendered him weeks ago.
Analysis: Interesting move by the Yankees who get Holliday on a buy low as he comes off injury and a rough year at the dish outside of power. Terms are not known yet but we would imagine it is a one-year deal. Holliday will fill the Carlos Beltran 2016 role on the team as a semi-outfielder and part-time DH. They still are pursuing Edwin Encarnacion as well.
