Rookie wideout+joining explosive annual passing offense=fantasy football top tier status? While you can't exactly make that total leap just yet, the early reviews of New Orleans Saints rookie receiver Michael Thomas have been more than glowing. The former Ohio State product was drafted by the Saints in the second round this past May and after a bit of a slow start as he got his professional feet under him, Thomas has been terrific over the last month as he quickly became a favorite target of QB Drew Brees. Overall heading into Week 10, Thomas has a collective 47 receptions for 573 yards and 5 touchdowns in just 8 games and one can easily see the kid achieving top tier fantasy football status among receivers going forward. What makes what Thomas has done so impressive is the fact the Saints already had a top wideout on the roster in Brandin Cooks and the latter has been very good himself. Thomas however has been a swell fantasy football value since he went as a mid-to-late round pick in almost all drafts and even was snagged off waivers in September whem his initial owners grew impatient with the slow start. While Brees likes to move his passes around, Thomas is set to continue operating as a top WR 3 for the remainder of the season.
