Another week and more running back madness as injuries continue to dominate the position. This time we look toward the Washington Redskins where starter by name only Matt Jones could miss Week 8 with a knee injury suffered in last Sunday's game. With Jones hobbled and also somewhat in the team's doghouse due to fumble problems that go back to 2015, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said that Rob Kelley and NOT Chris Thompson would start in Jones' if the situation presents itself. Thompson of course was a sought after pickup off waivers this week given his very good outing in Week 7 when he contributed both on the ground and in the passing game but Gruden said he prefers him in a third down role. So those who wound up with Thompson off waivers can dim their excitement a bit. Meanwhile Kelley has run well going back to the preseason so for those of you in standard formats, he is worth a look. Either way, Jones seems like he is not long for the starting job given the fumbles and shaky running.
