FANTASY FOOTBALL INJURY FALLOUT: SHANE VEREEN DONE FOR 2016 WITH SHOCKING TRICEPS INJURY

Well no one saw that coming.  Prior to the start of the 1:00 games on Sunday, the news that the New York Giants would be without starting running back Rashad Jennings sent many owners scramling to their league's waiver wire to snatch up PPR dynamo Shane Vereen would now be getting the start.  Throw in the weak Washington Redskins defense as a matchup and just like that Vereen was a terrific last minute add for Week 3.  Vereen certainly did his part early on in the game as he was effective both running and catching the football but a late fumble in the second quarter started speculation when Orleans Darkwa began the second half in the Giants' backfield.  While Vereen did return for a few more snaps, there was no word both during and after the game that he had suffered any sort of injury.  Well Monday brought forth disaster as the Giants announced that Vereen was done for 2016 with a triceps injury that needs surgery.  Just like that Vereen is gone and so the fallout here moves up Darkwa to a very interesting spot as he could be a bellcow back for the team in Week 4 if Jennings needs to miss more time.  Also speedster Bobby Rainey will likely be used on passing downs as well in that situation.  On the positive side, Jennings is reportedly ready to return which limits any upside Darkwa would bring.  Don't go crazy adding Darkwa on waivers just yet but keep tabs on this situation as the week goes on.

  1. Perkins seemed like their long term answer...he's not ready yet?
