FANTASY FOOTBALL CRISIS POINT: COBY FLEENER TE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

When your team is involved in a tremendous passing game shootout and your QB throws for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns, you would think any receiving on said offense would have a big game.  Well if you are New Orleans Saints tight end Coby Fleener, the answer is a resounding "NO"!  Echoing some disturbing reports from over the summer, Fleener was completely out of sync with Drew Brees and a total non-factor in a game with insane passing yardage and scoring passes.  And it continues on a theme that I have discussed here myself, most recently at the start of August when word began to come out about how terrible he was in acclimating to the Saints offense.  Of course this was a huge problem for those who already invested in Fleener in anticipating a tremendous career-year to come operating as a starting tight end in the always explosive New Orleans passing attack.  Well the fact that Fleener only caught ONE pass in Sunday's game speaks volumes about how the relationship is not working right now and so there is major cause for concern here.  Keep in mind what I said over the summer regarding Fleener in terms of not automatically assuming he would be a star in this system.  This is the same guy who was very disappointing during his four seasons in Indianapolis when he couldn't seem to get on the same page as his COLLEGE QB Andrew Luck.  Since Luck is considered to be a top tier QB like Brees, it stood to reason that Fleener would not adjust to New Orleans as well.  In fact one can now safely assume that maybe Fleener is not all that good.  Maybe the Saints make it a point to force feed Fleener next week versus the New York Giants but as of now, the alarms that were blaring over the summer seem legit.
