FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOWl GAVIN CECCHINI INFIELDER NEW YORK METS

Some more good to decent prospects continue to trickle in during this last month of the 2016 fantasy baseball season, with the New York Mets the latest to get into the act when they promoted one of their top infield prospects in the form of Gavin Cecchini.  With Asdrubal Cabrera gutting it out with a knee injury and the Mets lineup always looking for a boost, Cecchini gets the call to help the team get over the hump and return to the postseason.  Certainly there is a lot of pedigree of which to speak of here as Cecchini was the team's first round pick at number 12 overall in 2012 and the 22-year-old shortstop has been nothing short of tremendous in terms of being a pure hitting for the team.  After putting up a .317 average in Double-A in 2015, Cecchini did that even better this season as he was at a scorching .325 at Triple-A prior to the promotion.  With a short and compact swing that is high on contact (tiny 11.3 and 11.0 K/9 rates the last two minor league seasons), Cechhini at the very least will help you in the average department.  Unfortunately there is some empty average syndrome here as Cecchini hit only 8 home runs and stol just 4 bases in 499 at-bats this season at Triple-A and what makes those numbers so disappointing is that they came at the offensive haven that is the PCL.  So what we are talking about here is strictly an NL-only option and one that won't help you clinch a league title.  At least for this season.
