FANTASY FOOTBALL STATUS REPORT: LADARIUS GREEN'S INJURIES HOLDING HIM BACK AGAIN

Before trianing camps got underway, we made it obvious how we felt regarding the fantasy football prospects of new Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Ladarius Green.  Finally out of the shadow of Hall of Famer Antonio Gates in San Diego, Green was being given a plush assignment as the starting tight end on an explosive passing offense in Pittsburgh with a QB in Ben Roethlisberger who made Heath Miller a household name.  During his stay withining camp  the Chargers as Gates' backup, Green showed flashes of uncanny athletic ability and receiving ability when he got on the field.  Alas Gates and a penchant for injuries undermined how impactful Green could be.  It was that storyline that followed Green to the Steelers but we still had him down as a major sleeper option given all of the plusses checked going to his new locale.  Unfortunately it appears as injuries and health problems will continue to be a major impediment for Green as he has already missed a slew of time in training camp recovering from offseason ankle surgery and also recently revealed that he is suffering from headaches.  The headaches are more than a minor concern as Green has a long history of concussions and if he is dealing with issues stemming from that, his fantasy football outlook is murky at best.  Right now the Steelers are being vague on how serious an issue we are dealing with in terms of Green's immeduate outlook but at the very least we now have to move him down our rankings a bit until we get more clarity.

Update: Now there are reports that Green could be forced to retire.  Stay tuned but now we may need to scratch him from rankings altogether.
