FANTASY BASEBALL STTAUS REPORT: MIKE NAPOLI 1B CLEVELAND INDIANS

There is value and then there is the case of Cleveland Indians first baseman Mike Napoli in the 2016 fantasy baseball season.  A one-time highly sought after power-hitting catcher with the Los Angeles Angels, Napoli became nothing but a fantasy baseball afterthought once he gave up working behind the dish.  What always stood out about Napoli was his extreme power and that became a major asset when he carried catching eligibility.  The drawbacks of course was the perennial ugly batting averages as a typical Napoli campaign there centered around marks between .230 and .250 as the K rates soared over 25 percent.  As Napoli reached his mid-30's, even major league teams lost interest in him as he settled for just a one-year deal with the Indians prior to 2016.  Like almost everything else that has gone along with the Indians this season, Napoli turned out to be a monster value as he goes into Wednesday's games with a career-high already of 28 home runs.  Napoli has also been a major contributor in the RBI category with 79 and he even stole 4 bases.  The average is still ugly at .253 but Napoli has actually been quite worse in that category over the years.  The bottom line however is that Napoli is far from done by the looks of it and those who snatched him up off the wire where he stayed in most leagues to begin the season have had a major value on their hands.  The power has always been there for Napoli so no reason to think he will slow down there the final month-plus.  Keep him in the lineup.
