FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: RENALDO LOPEZ SP WASHINGTON NATIONALS

Tuesday night brings forth the second major pitching prospect for the Washington Nationals this season as the team will debut 23-year-old right Reynaldo Lopez for his first major league start against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  While Lucas Giolito is clearly the most highly regarded arm in the Nats system, Lopez has been arguably more dominant this season at Double and Triple-A as he posted a 3.19 ERA and struck out everyone to the tune of 109 whiffs in 87.1 innings.  While control is an issue for Lopez as it is for most other young hurlers, his power arsenal makes him a must add in all formats and he could stick around if he throws well right out of the gate.  Giolito struggled badly with his control in his two starts before being sent right back down to the farm so the chance is there for Lopez to grab that opportunity and make that his own.  Keep in mind though that Lopez saw his K/9 go from 11.79 to 7.36 from Double-A to Triple-A, while his BB/9 went from 2.95 to 4.91.  So it stands to reason that Lopez' stuff may not take off the more he moves up levels of baseball but still his ability is worth at least adding in a monitoring way.
