FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: JOSH BELL 1B PITTSBURGH PIRATES

With the Pittsburgh Pirates running out of patience with veteran first baseman John Jaso and his utter lack of power, the news was not a shock on Friday that the team was promoting power-hitting first base prospect Josh Bell for that night's game.  The number 1 pick in Round 2 of the 2011 draft, Bell is only 23 and has been tearing the cover off the baseball so far this season at Triple-A.  The power has certainly been on display as Bell has cracked 13 home runs in 359 at-bats with 53 RBI and a .324 average.  Clearly the offensive numbers are terrific but what really makes Bell such an attractive piece in fantasy baseball is the fact that for a young slugger, the kid doesn't whiff much.  Striking out in just 15.3 percent of his at-bats, Bell also has great patience for a young hitter as shown by his 11.4 percent walk rate.  A .358 BABIP is more than lucky which means Bell is not really a .324 hitter but with a high walk rate and low K rate, he should be a .300 guy before too long at the major league level while also hitting for big power.  This is a deal where you go right to the wire and add Bell as he profiles as a decent impact player the rest of the season and a top keeper.
