FANTASY BASEBALL TRADE DEADLINE REPORT: ROYALS ON VERY OF BEING SELLERS

By Michael Wong

An injury-ravaged and ultimately disappointing season for the Kansas City Royals is at a defining point this week as the team's front office is mulling whether to become sellers and restock a farm system that was demolished a year ago in deadine deal trades for Ben Zobrist and Johnny Cueto.  If the Royals do become sellers as many think, closer Wade Davis would immediately top the list of targets on the team as he arguably has been the most dominant reliever in baseball over the last two-seasons plus.  The price would be surpreme on Davis and the Royals will likely wait until the Yankees deal Arodis Chapman in order to do business with the teams who lose out on him.  In addition to Davis, Lorenzo Cain could also be put on the market which would incite another bidding war.

-All is quiet right now in Oakland in terms of trade news despite the team holding players like outfielder Josh Reddick, starter Rich Hill, and relievers like Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson who are readily available.  Billy Beane often waits until the last minute to get deals done so this could go right to the wire on all of them.  Out of the bunch, Madson and Doolittle have the best chance to go.

-Nothing happening with Ryan Braun right now and team sources say he is "90 percent" going to stay.

-The situation with the Chicago White Sox and Chris Sale is growing more bizarre by the day as the ace was suspended for five games by the team after he shredded retro uniforms prior to his outing Saturday night.  Sale was targeted by the Washington Nationals earlier this past week and perhaps he is feeling annoyed at the trade talk.  The Nats remain very interested as do the Texas Rangers but the latter won't include Nomar Mazara in any swap for him.

-The Yankees will also make it a point to move starter Ivan Nova this week, especially after his good outing on Saturday.  Nova is a free agent at the end of the season and would fetch something from a contender.

-Jay Bruce to Toronto any day now.
