FANTASY BASEBALL TRADE DEADLINE FALLOUT: MIKE MONTGOMERY FIRST PIECE TO SHORE UP CUBS PEN

The Chicago Cubs have made no secret about their desire to upgrade their bullpen for the stretch run of the season, having pretty much kept camp outside of Yankee Stadium as they continued to monitor Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman.  While the Cubs didn't get a closer-type on Wednesday, they are on the verge of picking up Mike Montgomery from the Seattle Mariners.  Montgomery has been a failed starter in the past but has found success in the bullpen this season with a 2.34 ERA and 54 whiffs in 61.2 innings.  There is little fantasy baseball impact here unless you play in a holds league but the Cubs at least have a bit less urgency now in terms of what they will pay for a Chapman, Jeremy Jeffress, or Jeanmar Gomez.
