FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: CAREER NOW IN QUESTION FOR MATT HARVEY AFTER TOS DIAGNOSIS

Confirming what was anticipated all along, New York Mets SP Matt Harvey was officially diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrom (or TOS) which is a restricting of blood flow in a patient's arm.  The diagnosis means season-ending surgery is on tap and there is legitimate concern now about the future of Harvey as a major league pitcher.  While there have been successful TOS surgeries and comebacks such as with Josh Beckett and Chris Young, there also have been career-ending results such as with Jeremy Bonderman and Noah Lowry.  That is neither here nor there when it comes to Harvey and this diagnosis puts the exclamation point on what was a comically bad season for Harvey in 2016.  Considered a fantasy baseball ace as recently as the start of this season, Harvey's 216 innings a year ago in his first year since coming back from Tommy John surgery (which was a career-high for a pitcher coming back from the procedure) can clearly be blamed here as he has not been the same since.  With an ERA near 5.00, Harvey has been nothing short of a disaster.  He can be cut in all formats and replacement Logan Verrett is not something you want to add even in NL-only setups.
