FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSING TIME: BRAD ZIEGLER DEAL MAKING MORE SENSE AFTER CRAIG KIMBREL HITS THE DL

The Boston Red Sox' acquisition late Friday of Arizona Diamondbacks closer Brad Ziegler will pay immediate dividends after the team put their closer Craig Kimbrel on the 15-day DL with a medial meniscus tear in his left knee.  Kimbrel will need surgery to repair the tear which is expected to keep him out for as little as 3 or as long as 6 weeks.  Hence the deal for Ziegler who has been very good in the ninth inning all season for the D-Backs and who all of a sudden retains his fantasy baseball value as he at least will split ninth inning duties with former Red Sox closer Koji Uehara.  Ziegler is unique as a closer in that he doesn't have big strikeout stuff that we often see at the position and his 2.82 ERA is quite lucky considering the 1.46 WHIP that he totes around.  Uehara on the other hand has been simply brutal this season with a 4.96 ERA but he is still missing a ton of bats with 46 whiffs in just 32.2 innings.  It looks like both will get a chance to make the closer spot their own but Ziegler obviously has been the better pitcher and is the guy we would bet on.
