FANTASY FOOTBALL ISSUES: ELBOW SURGERY MOVES UP EZEKIEL ELLIOTT EVEN MORE

With The Fantasy Sports Boss 2016 Fantasy Football Draft Guide already on sale, we are now officially underway in terms of previewing the upcoming season.  Already with minicamps going on, there are some storylines that bear watching.  Let's get to the latest:

-The biggest news of the day centered on the report that Dallas Cowboys veteran running back Darren McFadden was forced to undergo surgery to repair a broken elbow which will keep him sidelined for two months.  That means McFadden will sit out most of training camp and with his slow history of coming back from injuries, makes the already massively hyped Ezekiel Elliott so much more prominent.  Elliott already is going at the end of first rounds of fantasy football drafts which is staggering for a rookie in today's passing era.  Also McFadden is coming off a very good  comeback in 2015 where he graded out as the tenth most valuable running back in all of fantasy football and head coach Jason Garrett said he would be used a lot in the team's attack.  Now though Elliott gets a major leg up and his three-down ability as an explosive runner and very good receiver make him more worth the late first round price tag then before.  Now as far as yours truly is concerned, I would not personally draft ANY rookie in the first round as you really have to nail that pick or risk being sunk.  However Elliott is so ridiculously talented that I understand anyone who does so.

-The worst fears for Baltimore Ravens second-year wideout Breshaud Perriman were not realized as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that he did NOT suffer a torn ACL in his knee and instead just went under a scope.  Schefter also reported Perriman should be ready for Week 1 as well.  Perriman was a first round pick in 2015 for a reason as he has high upside but the run-dominant Ravens also have Steve Smith and to lead the receiving way so he has very little value at the moment.

-Already Washington Redskins oft-injured tight end Jordan Reed is dealing with a physical issue, this time an ankle sprain that has him sitting out minicamp practices.  Coming off a monster breakout in 2015, Reed is no stranger to injury and that threat is a big one as his 2016 draft price soars.  Reed on average is going as the number 3 receiver off the board behind Rob Gronkowski and Greg Olsen but he carries a very high amount of risk with his injury history.  Be careful with this guy.
