FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: JAMESON TAILLON SP PITTSBURGH PIRATES

There are certain select days during a given fantasy baseball season where the promotion of a prospect makes it necessary for each and every person who is involved in the game run to their league's waiver wire to see if said player is still available.  We have one of those days today (Tuesday) when it was revealed the Pittsburgh Pirates were calling up top pitching prospect Jameson Taillon to debut Wednesday in a titanic matchup of young hard-throwers against the New York Mets' Noah Syndegaard.  While Taillon took his time getting to the majors due to some truly horrific injury luck that cost him the equivalent of two full seasons, the wait will be worth it as the 24-year-old and his high K stuff gets set to launch.

As far as the righty and his stuff is concerned Taillon is a power pitcher personified as he carries a 61/6 K/BB ratio at Triple-A this season to the majors.  As we said earlier, Taillon has had more than a few setbacks along the way as he missed all of 2014 and 2015 with elbow and hernia problems and that made him somewhat of a forgotten prospect.  Still the Pirates remained patient and Taillon has come back from the setbacks with his best control ever and with his power fastball still racking up a ton of strikeouts.  With the Pirates having a very impressive recent run of developing pitchers and salvaging reclamation projects like Francisco Liriano and Edinson Volquez, it is easy to get pumped about where this could go.  Of course we never totally know what we will get from a prospect's first start due to the nerves issue but Taillon should be picked up in any league he is still free.  This is a very high-ceiling arm who could be a swell difference-maker the rest of the season.  Tune in Wednesday for a titanic matchup against a similarly skilled pitcher in Syndegaard.
