FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: TIM ANDERSON SP CHICAGO WHITE SOX

The recent unending string of promotions for top pitching prospects continued unabated Friday when it was announced the Chicago White Sox were bringing up the top position player in their system in the form of shortstop Tim Anderson.  Following in the footsteps of Julio Urias and Jameson Taillon, Anderson becomes an instant waiver wire check guy in terms of fantasy baseball.  As far as digging into Anderson is concerned, he is the number 19 overall prospect according to Baseball Prospectus and comes into his debut with a .304 average with 4 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 247 at-bats at Triple-A.  The 22-year-old also becomes the latest in a very impressive string of top shortstop prospects to make it to the majors which includes Carlos Correa and Francisco Lindor going back to last season.

Now as far as Anderson himself is concerned, he has skills in all five standard league categories based on the 4 homers and 11 steals; plus the .300 average.  Anderson certainly has major pedigree as the number 17 overall pick in the 2013 MLB draft and his calling card is speed, speed, and more speed.  Want evidence?  Try 49 stolen bases at Double-A last season where Anderson also batted .312 and scored 79 runs.  While Anderson could grow into some more power, he really profiles as a high-single digits guy in that category.  So what you are looking at is a future leadoff hitter who can steal 40 bases, bat .300, and score over 80 runs which is a tremendous baseline of numbers right off the top.  While Anderson does have some drawbacks such as a high K rate of 22.7 percent, this is a future All-Star who can be a big impact guy already in fantasy baseball.
