FANTASY BASEBALL STATUS REPORT: JAMESON TAILLON SP PITTSBURGH PIRATES

Well that didn't last very long.  There was massive excitement and hype when the Pittsburgh Pirates called up to pitching prospect Jameson Taillon to make his debut Wednesday versus the New York Mets and one only had to look at his dominant minor league numbers in 2016 to understand why.  Having struck out a batter per inning and walked only six in 61 innings (curbing some major control woes prior to missing 2014 and 2015 with injuries), there was the feeling that Taillon could be am immediate fantasy baseball asset the rest of the way.  While Taillon battled nerves, he generally threw well in his debut against Noah Syndegaard and the New York Mets in giving up 3 earned runs in 6 innings.  Taillon only struck out three but he kept the damage to the minimum when runners got on base and seemed poised enough.  Unfortunately the Pirates refused to keep the show going as they demoted Taillon back to the minors Thursday.  While Taillon will no doubt be back by the end of July at the latest, it is surprising that they wouldn't at least give him another start to see if he can solidify a spot in the rotation for the next ten years.  Those who already own Taillon should hold onto him if they gave the roster space as this is too talented an arm to let someone else get their hands for his next promotion.
