FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: JOSE BAUTISTA SECOND POWER-HITTING OUTFIELDER TO GO DOWN THURSDAY

J.D. Martinez you have company.  On the heels of the Detroit Tigers sending their slugging outfielder to the 15-day DL on Friday, the Toronto Blue Jays did the same with power-hitting outfielder Jose Bautista who sustained a toe injury during the team's game on Thursday.  Officially classified as a left big toe strain, Bautista is slated for more testing to see if there is any ligament damage that could keep him out longer.  Ezequiel Herrera will take over for Bautista but obviously this is another home run-heavy slugger who will be out of commission for at leats 15 days which puts his owners in a bind.  Known just as much for taking an all-time punch to the kisser from Texas Rangers infielder Rougned Odor this season, Bautista has had an up-and-down year where he has batted .230 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI.  Overall the numbers are somewhat disappointing as Bautista's home run rate is down sharply from the 40 bombs he hit in 2015 or the 35 he smacked in 2014.  In addition, Bautista seems fully immersed in the ugly average portion of his career as his .230 average is looking similar to the .237 he put up a year ago.  As a result, Bautista is now more of an outfielder 2 in fantasy baseball terms than his customary outfielder 1 and he is also showing his age through an increasing rate of injuries.  Now 35, Bautista is leaking numbers as he ages but his power still plays very well in today's pitching dominate game.  Stash Bautista on the DL and look for a better replacement then Herrera.
