FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: J.D. MARTINEZ DOWN 4-6 WEEKS WITH BUSTED ELBOW

The horror show that has been the Detroit Tigers outfield in 2016 continued onward Thursday when power-hitting outfielder J.D. Martinez suffered a broken elbow that will sideline him for 4-6 weeks.  The real shame of it all is that after a bit of a rough April, Martinez had consistently hit the ball hard both in May and June and was sitting with 12 home runs, 39 RBI, and a .286 average before suffering the break.  Now Martinez was in fact behind his extreme 38-home run pace from a year ago but his power consistently rates as among the best in baseball and his fantasy baseball stock among the position was that or a borderline OF 1 who compared to Yoenis Cespedes.  Now Martinez won't be around to help until the end of July and so he leaves a decent power void in his owners' lineups.  In addition, it added to the chaos that has been the Tigers outfield in 2016 as Justin Upton has been a colossal bust at the dish and Cameron Maybin has been constantly hurt.  Obviously Martinez needs to be held onto due to the power but replacement Stephen Moya is nothing but a fill-in name.
