FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: HOLD YOUR BREATH TIME FOR VINNY VELASQUEZ AFTER EXITING WED. START

Uh-oh.  That would be the collective response to anyone owning stock in Philadelphia Phillies hard-throwing rookie starter Vinny Velasquez after he was removed from his Wednesday start after just TWO pitches.  With each offering coming in under 90-mph, the alarms went off in the Philly dugout which led to Velasquez' removal.  The Phillies quickly tried to get in front of the story by officially diagnosing Velasquez with biceps soreness but he is headed for more tests to see if there is an issue with the elbow.  Velasquez of course is no stranger to elbow problems as he has a Tommy John procedure in his past and that adds to the cause for concern here.  The fact the pitches Velasquez threw came in so slow is a major red flag as it usually means there is something wrong with the UCL.  It would not shock us in the least if Velasquez suffered another tear and that would be a truly devastating blow to a kid who did some big things in April in showing off a major strikeout fastball.  While Velasquez leveled off a bit in May, he was considered a firm part of the Aaron-Nola-Jerad Eickhoff pitching troika for the Phillies going into the future.  Now who knows as we await the results of an expected MRI.  As we said in the title of this post, it is hold your breath time for all Velasquez owners.  This could be bad.
