FANTASY BASEBALL LINEUP ISSUES: MANNY MACHADO NOW EXCLUSIVELY AT SHORTSTOP FOR O'S

As we first touched on yesterday, the 6-8 week injury absence of Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy had a dramatic effect on some of his "name" teammates in terms of their fantasy baseball outlooks going forward.  The more minor development was Pedro Alvarez being dusted off and becoming the starting third baseman where he power could take off in the bandbox in Camden Yards.  More importantly was the move of incumbent third baseman Manny Machado to shortstop which will now be on an everyday basis while Hardy is out according to manager Buck Showalter.  Coming off a truly monster breakout season in 2015 that saw Machado smack 35 home runs with 20 steals and a .286 average, he also was able to pick up shortstop eligibility for the start of 2016 for those leagues that use five games started at a spot.  Those who use 20 games were out of luck however.....until now.  The fact Machado will now have shortstop eligibility in all leagues is tremendous for his already sky-high value and that places him firmly with Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, and Nolan Arenado as truly top fantasy baseball stars.
