FANTASY BASEBALL LINEUP ISSUES: ALEDMYS DIAZ NOW IN THE PRECIOUS LEADOFF SPOT FOR CARDS WED.

One of the more out of nowhere fantasy baseball breakouts the first month of the 2016 season could be found in the St. Louis Cardinals infield in the form of rookie shortstop Aledmys Diaz.  Only getting a chance to play on a daily basis due to the early injury that befell veteran Jhonny Peralta, Diaz has been an absolute revelation so far as he goes into Wednesday's games with a terrific .388 average with 5 home runs and a stolen base in 85 at-bats.  At only 25, Diaz is showing that he should stay up in the majors even when Peralta eventually returns and that the team needs to find a place to keep his bat in the lineup.  Making things even more positive, Diaz has been moved to the leadoff spot at least for Wednesday's game which is big for his fantasy baseball value for all the obvious reasons.  Now in digging in a bit on Diaz' early numbers, what is surprising is that his BABIP is as close to neutral as a hitter can get at .301.  That means Diaz is making his own luck and legitimately hitting as well as he is.  Of course Diaz will cool off and keep in mind he batted just .264 with a modest 10 home runs and 6 steals in Double-A last season but still the kid has been very good and deserving of an everyday spot in a fantasy baseball shortstop spot.  Opposing pitchers will eventually start to adjust to Diaz as we go along but as always you can continue riding it out as long as it goes.  A leadoff promotion could help that ride go on even longer than one would think.
