FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY NEWS: MICHAEL BRANTLEY'S SHOULDER NOT RESPONDING WELL

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley was one of the more discussed players for 2016 fantasy baseball drafts due to the combination of his low-key five category production to go with the fact he was likely going to miss at least the first two weeks of the season as he recovered from winter shoulder surgery.  Considered one of the best pure hitters in baseball who can bat .300 in his sleep and score a high amount of counting stats in runs and RBI, Brantley was as good as an outfielder 2 can get.  While the 20 home runs from 2014 was the outlier we predicted it to be, Brantley was still very capable of 10-15 with 20-plus steals as well.  Alas after sitting the first two weeks as predicted, Brantley has not performed well at all as he carried an ugly .231 average and zero home runs into Friday's game. A game he would miss due to a feeling of weakness in the shoulder.  Brantley admitted that the shoulder was giving him problems again and pointed to playing on a daily basis as the culprit.  Now Brantley will be day-to-day but a DL stint is not out of the question if this lingers.  While we hammered Brantley for 2015 fantasy baseball due to our come true argument he would never approach 20 homers again, he looked like a decent buy low bat at the draft table.  Now all bets are off.  Stay tuned on this but right now Brantley has been a complete bust for his owners.
