FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: STEVEN MATZ ONCE AGAIN HAS SEASON INTERRUPTED BY INJURY

Outside of a hideous beginning to the season when he got shelled in his first start, New York Mets lefty starter Steven Matz has been as good as any other hurler in fantasy baseball.  Combining better than a K/IP ratio with virtually no earned runs given up in winning four straight, Matz seemed well on his way toward showing why he was such a hyped prospect to begin with.  Alas the injury bug bit Matz again on Wednesday as he began complaining of soreness in his pitching elbow which will prevent him from making his start.  Manager Terry Collins said no MRI is planned but of course this is a fluid situation that will change is the soreness doesn't dissipate.  Keep in mind that despite being under the age of 25, Matz already has had a Tommy John elbow surgery, plus he missed two months with a tear on his last as a rookie in 2015.  Matz is quickly earning a reputation of being injury-prone and this only reinforces that notion.  While the Mets are putting a positive spin on this, anything with the elbow ususally requires a DL stint so stay tuned.
