FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: MIKE MOUSTAKAS ON HIATUS WITH THUMB INJURY

Over the last week or so, there has been some mystery surrounding the health of Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas.  After sitting out last Monday with what the team called a day of rest, Moustakas sat out again Tuesday which raised eyebrows.  After some conjecture, Moustakas was placed on the 15-day DL late Friday with a left thumb fracture.  Anything to do with the thumb is a major problem for a hitter and so now we have to think Moustakas could be out longer then the 15 day minimum.  Christian Colon figures to start most of the games in Moustakas' place but the team also recalled Cheslor Cuthbert to fill the open roster spot.  Moustakas; absence is not a deal breaker but it is a decent loss as he had really developed his overall hitting game going back to the start of 2014.  After years of ugly batting averages, Moustakas broke through there in 2015 but his power was down.  This season Moustakas blended the two which put him in the fold as an every day starting fantasy baseball third baseman.  Keep Moustakas on your DL spot as his 20-home run bat and improving batting average have become valuable this season.
