FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY WATCH: LANCE McCULLERS NEARING REHAB ASSIGNMENT, BOUNTIFUL K'S AWAIT

It was a more than a sizable disappointment for anyone owning fantasy baseball stock in Houston Astros fireballing starting pitcher Lance McCullers when he came down with a shoulder problem in spring training that necessitated himhttps://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6552677339859538395#editor/target=post;postID=365167572929970128 beginning the 2016 season on the disabled list.  While no structural issues were found, it was the second such shoulder issue for McCullers since turning pro and he also needed a two week "break" in thre middle of last season to refresh his arm.  McCullers is the epitome of a hard-throwing power pitcher whose fastball can reach the upper 90's.  The torque on his fastball clearly takes a toll on his body and that could be an explanation for why he is already dealing with shoulder trouble.  As we have said way too many times to count on here, shoulder trouble tends to re-occur with pitchers and an injury there can be more debilitating to a career then a bum elbow.  When healthy though, McCullers is the real deal and he has ace-like stuff that can result in a massive K rate and low ratios.  McCullers is getting close to beginning a rehab assignment for the Astros and a return in a few weeks is likely once he gets his pitch count up after missing a huge amount of spring training.  Five months of McCullers though could be terrific for all the reasons we stated and any buy low chance will go by the wayside real quick.
