FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FOCUS: DL LIKELY FOR KYLE SCHWARBER, BREATHS BEING HELD OVER ANKLE

Prior to the start of the 2016 fantasy baseball season, we spoke often about how the tremendous hype surrounding Chicago Cubs catcher/outfielder Kyle Schwarber pushed his draft stock to such heights that he was entering into the bust zone given the mammoth expectations and cost.  While there was no denying the tremendous power Schwarber possesses and having catcher eligiblity to go with it is extremely valuable, there were clear warts here such as a very high K rate that would make it a challenge for him to post a decent average.  Also when draft prices skyrocket on a player like they did with Schwarber, often the numbers don't match the hype. However we didn't stress as much the injury factor which can undermine any player at any time which seems to be the case above all else now with Schwarber as he is likely headed to the disabled list with a sprained ankle.  An MRI is scheduled for Friday which means it is hold your breath time for all Schwarber owners in order to make sure there are no breaks or ligament issues.  It was an ugly twist of the ankle and the apparent pain Schwarber was in was all you needed to know that this could be worrisome.  Jorge Soler benefits from this as he will now be an everyday guy and thus be given another chance to show some of the upside we all spoke about prior to 2015.  Soler is worth an add gives his post-hype sleeper status but Schwarber's outlook should be checked out later for an update.
