FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: ELBOW FRACTURE PUTS TOPPER ON INJURY-PLAGUED SPRING FOR A.J. POLLOCK

There is nothing that drives fantasy baseball owners of any respective pitcher or hitter then to see that player go down in the last few days of spring training.   Few things are more frustrating then having one of your better players falling prey to injury and be lost for an extended time which makes getting off to a fast start in your league a challenge.  Such a situation has unfolded for those who own stock in Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock who put the topper on an injury-filled spring by suffering an elbow fracture after sliding into home plate during Friday's exhibition game.  That put the topper on a spring where Pollock was sidelines for large stretches of exhibition games with elbow soreness.  Clearly the elbow was not 100 percent leading into Friday's game and one has to wonder if the two situations are connected.  Either way, surgery is now needed for Pollock but May is already being floated as a possible return date which is a major blow right out of the gates.  Pollock's absence destroys any potential outfield battle between Yasmany Tomas and Socrates Brito as both will now be starters with David Peralta.  Also Peralta will not be sit against lefties as originally planned due to Pollock's absence.  A slight boost to both Tomas and Brito, with the latter being worth an add due to his speed upside.  As far as Pollock is concerned, he already is well behind the eight-ball when it comes to duplicating his tremendous 2015 five-category breakout season.
