FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: CHARLIE BLACKMON HITS THE DL WITH A TOE INJURY

The Colorado Rockies are the land of the potent hitter when it comes to 2016 fantasy baseball as guys up and down the lineup can destroy the baseball and also run.  During the last two years, the team also found a five-tool outfielder in the form of Charlie Blackmon who could pick up 40 stolen bases with his blazing speed while also popping 15-20 home runs that put him right on the border of outfielder 1 status in fantasy baseball.  Well Blackmon hit an early roadblock in 2016 as he was placed on the 15-day DL Thursday with what the team is calling turf toe.  The initial reaction with any toe issue is usually something along the likes of "Really?  On the DL with a toe injury?"  The fact of the matter though is that a toe problem can be debilitating for a hitter since they have to push off the digit to generate power and torque in the swing and so the Rockies felt they had no choice but to DL Blackmon and ward off the problem before it got worse.  Obviously this is a big blow to Blackmon's fantasy baseball owners and the hope is now he will only be down the 15 days.  With a toe though, one can never be sure.
