FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: JURICKSON PROFAR COULD BE READY TO SHOW HE STILL EXISTS

It has been a long and frustrating journey for former top Texas Rangers infield prospect Jurickson Profar.  After drawing comparisons to a young Hanley Ramirez, Profar was supposed to be the next big star at a shallow shortstop spot.  However Profar's shoulder didn't get the memo as constant injuries and a major surgery to the joint conspired to keep him out of the majors and mostly out of action entirely the last two seasons.  After all that time has gone by, Profar's name has increasingly become a "who is that?" reaction and that remains true for 2016 fantasy baseball.  While Profar is not expected to be ready yet again for the start of the season, he did take part in an intrasquad game on Monday which is a giant step in his recovery.  Profar showed no issues manning the shortstop position and even more tantalizing, he cracked a home run off Cole Hamels.  Right now the Rangers are being very coy and conservative when discussing whether or not Profar could somewhat sneak himself onto the roster to begin the season but there is no denying the talent still exists here.  Keep in mind Profar is still just 23-years-old and a good three seasons away from the start of his prime.  He was once lauded as a future power/speed infielder which alone got the excitement meter going into overdrive.  The bottom line here is that Profar should be watched closely in spring games in order to see how he is progressing.  In addition, making a very late round gamble on the guy is looking increasingly like a good idea.  While we won't make any promises concerning the guy, Profar at the very least is a top worth discussing again.
