FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSING TIME: BUMP A.J. RAMOS UP MORE THAN A LITTLE IN THE SAVES RANKINGS

It wasn't much of a battle after all.  At the start of spring training, Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly suggested that there would be a battle for the team's closer job between successful 2015 incumbent A.J. Ramos and fireballing youngster Carter Capps.  Capps was an absolute sensation last season as he showcased a step and fire approach that had never been seen before in Major League Baseball and the result was a sky-high K rate that suggested he could dominate as a closer.  Meanwhile Ramos did a terrific job himself as the team's closer in 2015 after replacing an ineffective Steve Cishek.  Ramos would save 32 games with a 2.30 ERA but some control issues was a bit of an issue for Mattingly.  Well the battle is finished already as it was learned Capps would need Tommy John elbow surgery which ends his 2016 season before it began.  As a result Ramos is locked in as the team's closer and he actually is a very good value in the mid-pack.  Ramos has a solid K rate and his 2015 numbers were impressive.  Meanwhile Capps becomes the latest "classic" Tommy John case in terms of being under the age of 27 and throwing very hard.  Add him to the list.
