FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: GREG BIRD DONE FOR 2016 AFTER TEARING LABRUM IN SHOULDER

With spring training still over a week away, the first major injury came down the pike for 2016 fantasy baseball and it struck down one of the bigger sleepers for this season in the form of New York Yankees powerful first baseman Greg Bird.  It was revealed on Monday that Bird will miss the entire 2016 season as a result of needing surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder.  This is an injury that went back to last summer when Bird first began complaining of pain in the joint and it flared up again while be began working out for the upcoming season.  Tests were conducted which revealed the tear and now Bird won't be any factor until 2017 fantasy baseball when he figures to replace the free agent Mark Teixeira for the Yankees at first base.  Be that as it may, Bird obviously needs to be removed from all cheat sheets and it is a real shame since he opened some eyes with his power swing  filling in for an injured Teixeira last season.  A story for another day.
